Fast-Tracked Market Rentals and Hotels
Vancouver’s ABC-majority council could soon approve another sweeping rezoning - impacting local neighbourhoods city-wide.
City Hall plans to rezone nearly 2,400 properties to fast-track 6- to 8-storey market rentals and hotels. Developers get incentives. And no public hearings.
What’s at stake?
• Displacement of local businesses, tenants, and renters
• Rising land values and higher rents
• Unaffordable rentals
• Special carve-outs for hotel developers to bypass public input
This will impact corridors along East Hastings St, Victoria Drive, Nanaimo St., Renfrew St., Main St, Commercial Dr., Fraser Street, W. 10th Ave, W. 4th, Dunbar St., Alma St., W 41st., Granville St (Marpole), Oak St., Cambie, and Kingsway, among others.
City Hall has already approved thousands of market rentals and hotel rooms. Now they want to give even more to developers.
This isn’t affordability. It’s a giveaway!
There will be just ONE public hearing.
